My name is Michael Cathey, I begin working at Tennessee Technological University in the Fall as an Assistant Professor, in the Department of Exercise Science, Physical Education and Wellness.

I was previously employeed at Valdosta State University, where I taught a variety of courses, from motor learning to secondary methods.  I was involved in the undergraduate program, as well as the graduate school, mostly within the Ed.S. program for Coaching Pedagogy, where I served as the Program Coordinator.

I am originally from Tellico Plains, TN.  I grew up there and ended up going there to teach for a bit. I played football and baseball growing up and throughout high school.  I have degrees from Hiwassee College (A.S.), Tennessee Wesleyan College (B.S.)  and Tennessee Technological University (M.A.).  I received my Ph.D. from University of South Carolina in Physical Education in August 2010.
